The HSP System Scan does not look for labels and does not diagnose. It helps you systematically explore where a recurring route currently seems to have the most influence or constraint.
You look beyond behavior itself, at input and detection, meaning and prediction, learned system logic, activation, resource allocation, capacity / choice space, output function, feedback and update readiness.
The scan does not give a definitive answer. It helps identify which hypothesis is most useful to explore further.
Nine observation dimensions
The HSP System Scan is not a diagnosis and not a personality test. It helps reveal which parts of a system route currently seem to have the strongest influence on a repeating pattern.
The scan follows the current HSP model, with rollback and update readiness added as practical observation points.
Not: “What is wrong with me?”
But: “Which parts of this system route seem to influence this pattern most strongly right now?”
Which signals, situations, body sensations, memories or similarities does the system register?
What meaning is assigned to the input and what does the system expect may happen next?
Which rule, threshold, default route or strategy becomes relevant under that prediction?
How does the system state change: tension, urgency, alertness, shutdown or other activation?
Where do attention, energy and processing capacity go?
How much access remains to pause, regulate, hold nuance, reflect and choose consciously?
Which output becomes available and what does that output do in the system? Is the function, for example, protective, regulatory, relational or practical?
What feedback follows, what does it reinforce or revise, and does the system return to a familiar route under load?
Is there enough safety, capacity and choice space for a small experiment, or are stabilization, recovery, support or boundaries needed first?
Protection is not a separate system layer here. A protective function may become visible when examining behavior / output.
Result
The scan gives no judgment or diagnosis, but a working hypothesis about the system dynamics behind repeating behavior.
You see which parts of the route currently seem to have the strongest influence on the pattern you are exploring.
The result is a hypothesis to observe and test further — not a fixed judgment about you or your system.
Boundaries of the scan
This is not a diagnosis. Not a personality test. Not a disorder label. Not an attempt to place you in a category.
The scan also does not determine with certainty “which layer is the problem.” Human behavior emerges from interaction between multiple system processes, and the same output can have different routes and functions.
HSP therefore does not ask: “What kind of person are you?” but: “Which system dynamics seem active here, and which hypothesis can we test safely?”
The scan describes possible system dynamics. Not who you are.
After the scan
The scan helps identify what probably needs attention first — not which “layer needs fixing.”
Sometimes the first step is recovery or stabilization. Sometimes more observation is needed. Sometimes current input needs boundaries. And only when enough safety, capacity and choice space are available can a small experiment be useful.
This makes change more precise without pretending that a scan can predict what the system will change. New experience and feedback can support an update; they do not guarantee one.
Signals are clues
Thoughts, emotions, body signals and behavior can provide information about how a system route is functioning, but one signal does not automatically point to one specific layer.
Overthinking may relate to meaning and prediction, but also to activation or constrained choice space. Fatigue may relate to capacity or body state. Avoidance may have a protective output function, but can also be influenced by other system dynamics.
The system map therefore helps keep multiple hypotheses open before drawing conclusions.
FROM QUESTION TO WORKING HYPOTHESIS
The HSP System Scan first helps locate where influence or constraint appears to sit. The outcome is a working hypothesis, not a diagnosis or conclusion.
Use that working hypothesis to decide which next observation, tool or change in conditions may be useful.
